medicine essay test & psychometric test
the qns was if there is one aspect of the medical profession u can change, what would it be and why. include your observations and experiences. i can say was a bit of rusty at writing haha after all i didnt touch my pencil box for as long as i can rmbr. anyway, i jus wrote more clinical practices for docs and docs-to-be should be encouraged. and crap all my way thru with stuff like practice makes perfect blah blah blah. wonder if it really fit the qns haha.
dentistry interivew
got shoot like crap! before the interview, i was talkin to the guy nxt to me, and after he came out of the interview rm, the first thing he said was " WAH I GOT WHACKED LIKE SHIT!" that added on to my nervousness! but no time to ponder and the bell rang, so i went in. there were 3 interviewers, 2 guys and 1 lady. the main one, lets call him A, he was the one who rebutted so much that i have said. made me felt as if what i said was really rubbish. the 2nd guy, say B, was younger and SLIGHTLY more merciful. the lady, C, was haha jus there to say random comments and smile when there is a need to.
so the first qns when i walked in was asked directly by A, so what have u been doin since A'levels ended? so i said, i worked admin at hsbc. why a bank? o because i can learn blah blah blah. so what have u learnt? i was silently stunned at that! but i said all about the office politics that i got(like kena back-stabbed by sharon teh) and it sort of got them laughing. but nxt A asked, so how u prepare for both your medicine and dentistry interview? i was like thinkin to myself why are u asking me that! but i jus said o read up on books, papers, online, seniors etc. A continued to ask, so what do you think holds for the futures of the doctors? so i brought in the news ytd about spore lacking doctors and more hospitals will be built so doctors will be high in demand BUT I WAS TOO CARELESS AND ACTUALLY SAID SPORE"S POPULATION WAS 6.5 MILLION WHEN I MEANT TO SAY PROJECTED TO BE!!! so it lead to A and B sniggering on my mistake (which they immediately corrected me so leaving me no grounds to correct it myself) and B even said, like that there would be traffic jams everywhere. that was plain sarcasm. after that, A said, but actually u noe, spore don't really need so much dentists... i was like even so, there had to be dentists around because people still need them ultimately. and from a person's mouth i heard, u can detect some sytemic health probs too. THEN A WAS LIKE "NOT REALLY LEH U NOE." i really felt crushed when he said that. then came the qns that screwed me totally, so if medicine and dentistry both accepted u, which one will u choose? i was too blant i said there is a higher possibilty i would take dentistry. then A was like but u put as second choice leh. so i said well medicine and dentistry both are where i would say my interest lies, the thing about medicine is u need the courage to face life and death and i will make sure i can handle that before i choose medicine. but still, i will still consider carefully before making any decisions because it will affect me for the rest of my life. then A said, O SO U ARE GOING TO TELL THE MEDICINE INTERVIEWERS THAT? U MUST BE CAREFUL U NOE. omg lah i really wanna stand up and say i'm torn enuf as to choose which to take if i get both (which wont happen actually) so dun rub salt onto my wound pls! from then on, A hated me i think haha. they prob think i'm trying to smoke them and make them happy. but well, i really think there is a higher chance i will take dentistry if offered both, though now i think they thought i was not being frank. i should hav said i would take medicine and shut them up. after that, B asked so what do u see yourself in 10 years' time? i said, open a clinic and treat lil kids if possible. and A whacked in and said, but u noe its a form of business and people normally would wanna come back to hospitals to work after not racking in profits and stuff. i was quite annoyed that he rebutted me in sarcasm so i jus said, i noe but if thats my dream i will still go for it nonetheless. it shut him up haha. he went to comment that kids are brats nowadays, and mumbled sth i couldnt hear. he even said to me, U NOE THE MOUTH HAS MORE BACTERIA THAN BELOW? i was like BELOW? den he said, RECTUM LAH. haha i was like is it i wasnt sure of that. the rest of the interview consisted of qns like whats your biggest achievement and your biggest setback, what motivates you ( i was stunned for 10 secs haha) and have u interacted with kids before, any attachments. but those are not hard to handle, the toughest to get myself out was that WHAT IF BOTH CHOOSES YOU? pls i REALLY dun wanna see any of them for my medicine interviews on sat, because andrew said there is a possibilty that dentists will be among the panel of interviewers.
screw that guy he really gets on my nerves. but i must say i was pretty amused by A at the end. it was a nerve-wrecking experience but i guess i enjoyed it in a way because i was so delighted to rebut whatever A said to rebut me. but even if i dun get it its alrite, its a good experience anyway :)
